Volunteer Grants 2018

I am writing to let you know that the Volunteer Grants programme will be opening soon.

The Coalition Government is investing $20 million in Volunteer Grants to support, encourage and increase participation in volunteering in local communities.

Grants between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to help not-for-profit community organisations or groups in Deakin to support their volunteers through practical measures including, the purchase of small equipment items, reimbursement for volunteers’ fuel and transport costs, and contributions towards the cost of training and background screening checks.

The Volunteer Grants programme opens in August and will provide a valuable opportunity for your organisation to support its volunteers.

I’m encouraging all not-for-profit organisations in Deakin to apply for the upcoming round of Volunteer Grants.

If you intend on applying or for more information, please contact my office on 03 9874 1711 or email me at

You can also visit the Department of Social Services’ Community Grants Hub website to subscribe to updates on the application process.

Best regards

The Hon. Michael Sukkar MP
Federal Member for Deakin
Assistant Minister to the Treasurer

Does your business or a business you are involved with need social media exposure along with other advertising opportunities.

The BHRDCA is actively seeking new sponsors – look at the deals available and we can customise to specific needs.

Industry Exclusive deals have already secured new sponsors but time is ticking. Call or email Jo at or 0411 313 334 to start the conversation before a competitor takes your place.

Please take a moment to watch a video showing the importance of having a sports Chaplain / Welfare officer at your club.

We are very fortunate to have Anthony on board at the BHRDCA, he is available to all clubs as a resource.

Anthony attended the SCA dinner at the MCG as a BHRDCA representative, along with 400 others. The guest speaker was Justin Langer who entertained the crowd with his stories.

Another great Presidents Lunch at the Kookaburra Ray McIntosh Grand Final. A great turn out from club representatives, sponsors and VIP’s.
Thanks to Michael Sukkar, Neil Angus & the many sponsors for their donations that helped raise $633 for Taralye – a school in Blackburn for hearing impaired children.

Hi All

Below is the link to the Live Stream to the BHRDCA Kookaburra Ray McIntosh Shield for 2017/18.

This will be played on Sunday March 18 & Saturday March 24 at East Burwood Reserve between Forest Hill and Vermont CC’s.

This has been a great innovation and we are into our 4th year of doing this. With tremendous support from My Sport Live we bring local cricket around the world through the live stream.

With 7,866 views last year and an average viewing time of 14:36 mins there is great exposure for our sponsors, BHRDCA and local cricket generally.

If you cant get to the game, I hope you can follow it on the live stream which is considerably enhanced by our expert commentary team calling every ball bowled.
