An update from the FHCC Sec. from last nights Statewide T20 match between Forest Hill CC & Nth Balwyn CC

Forest Hill ventured out to Macleay Park pretty excited to be a part of the state-wide competition and confident they could be competitive. North Balwyn won the toss and chose to send the Zebras in. Charles Erasmus and Jarryd Taun-Henderson (23 off 12) got the innings under way and struck the ball nicely from the get go. Charles departed in the 4th over which brought Aaron Taun-Henderson (42 off 26) together with Jarryd, and those two ensured the run rate hovered around the 10 an over mark for the early period.

The Zebras continued to get solid contributions throughout the innings, with Matt Grace (31 off 15) and Jason Thompson (18 off 12) controlling the middle period nicely. The wicket was quite slow and scoring became tricky towards the back end but Forest Hill kept knocking the ball around eventually finishing 7/167 off their 20 overs.

With a good score to defend, Forest Hill were confident that if they executed their plans well, they would give themselves every chance. Jason & Aaron got the innings under way and were able to really restrict the North Balwyn bats, keeping them to around 6 runs an over for the first 5 overs. From there the Zebras bowlers and fielders were able to keep the pressure on right throughout the North Balwyn innings, eventually dismissing them for 108. Matt Grace (3/17 off 3) and Josh King (3/19 off 3.3) were the standouts with the ball.

Overall a great performance with the team and club looking forward to the next game in the competition.

Congrats to FHCC for winning their first game of the Statewide tournament, which puts them through to the next round.
