We are living in amazing and unprecedented times that are providing enormous challenges for everyone in every aspect of daily life.
Cricket may well be the least of those for some people and that is acknowledged.
Many clubs have had to cancel presentation day, or night, which is a tough call especially when we should be celebrating individual and team success.
Similarly, the BHRDCA presentation night, scheduled for April 3rd, cannot proceed in the current environment.
We do propose to hold this in the future and acknowledge those that have achieved success this season, our valued sponsors and other key stakeholders that are strong supporters of the association. The timing of this is, however, unclear today.
There has been emails sent to our sponsors in the interim thanking them for their support and assuring them that when the sun comes up again, we will be here and we hope our partnership continues. We will continue to promote them where possible via the website and social media. If an opportunity presents to support them then I am sure they would love to hear from anyone within the BHRDCA community, and let them know you are part of the BHRDCA community.
The CoM are planning as we normally would for the pre AGM and AGM although the challenge of how to hold those events is still to be resolved. No doubt clubs will be faced with similar challenges and we will work through the logistics as best we can or consider postponing the scheduled events based on Government advice and rules imposed.
We trust that everyone, and your loved ones, stay safe through the turmoil and we all get out the other side bigger and stronger. With the absence of AFL and many other local sports, it underlines what an important role sporting clubs play in the local community and why so many volunteers give their time to ensure it is a thriving and vibrant environment within each club. It will be a great day when the clubs are populated and buzzing again.
Let’s stay the course together and look out for each other.
